Microbiology

The Microbiology laboratory performs a wide variety of microbiological tests which includes, Bacteriology, Mycology, Rapid Virology, and Parasitology. All Mycobacteriology, Molecular Diagnostics and Viral Cultures are referred to Reference Laboratories.

The microbiology department deals with the culturing, isolation and identification of micro-organisms, such as bacteria and fungi. Samples are obtained from various parts of the body, like swabs used on wounds, pus, faeces, urine, mucus and other body fluids such as blood and cerebral spinal fluid.
